Alexa Buford, MSW, LCSW, RYT 200

My life journey has not been easy. Pain is universal, but I’ve learned that suffering is optional with the right mindset.  I’ve always been curious to learn from my life circumstances and find ways to peace amongst the turmoil. Despite external forces, I believe peace is inherent within us all. I’m passionate in my work as a therapist to help others find ways to still the mind, develop new insights into subconscious forces that may be driving them, learn how to be embodied, and carve a new path towards freedom.

We live in anxious times, but nothing has EVER been certain. We can, however, learn to find ease in the uncertainty. Become our own anchor. Dance in the rain, even as it pours. We can take risks. We can develop healthy relationships despite what past experiences tell us. Despite how our nervous systems may have been previously wired due to trauma and mistreatment. We can develop emotional safety and we can always live more fully. Unafraid to take up space and understanding that we are worthy and enough. Embodying emotions, embracing all parts of ourselves (instead of denying and discarding), and live a life of purpose and meaning.

I hold compassionate space for my clients as they process their past and present experiences. I teach my clients new ways to self regulate. I take a psychodynamic approach to therapy and incorporate body based techniques. I tailor each session to the needs and goals of my clients. I am trained in EMDR and I am a Kripalu trained yoga teacher. I have worked in all levels of care in the treatment of eating disorders.

I am passionate about teenage mental Heath, relational traumas, and eating disorders.

If you are ready to grow and try something different, I would be honored to accompany you on your own journey.
